Still Flowing Water: a meditation & Yin Yang Yoga silent retreat

with Victoria Ucele & Noon

This silent retreat will focus on the blending of meditation and Yin Yang Yoga through guided practices of embodying the elements (Earth/solidity, water/fluids, air/breath, & fire/energy) to access the qualities of gentleness, suppleness, and kindness within us. Through a mix of sitting and walking meditations alongside yoga, Noon & Victoria will offer tools for grounding and resourcing our hearts, bodies and minds.

Each day, Noon will provide guided and walking meditations along with instruction and reflections which will include time for dialogue and questions. He will also offer one-on-one meetings, allowing us to explore ways of unravelling any knots or share experience.

To complement our meditation practice, Victoria will be offering two daily yoga sessions of 45 and 90 minutes.

Through being in silence together, there will be time to listen deeply to our hearts, coming out of the need for personae presentation, and to rest.

Each day, there will be 45 minutes of daily domestic activity such as veggie chopping, washing up, cleaning the kitchen, or emptying compost toilets. This enables us to offer retreats at less cost than if we were a business and employing several staff.

All teaching guidance is offered on dana (donation basis), to be offered at the end of the retreat to Noon & Victoria.

About Yin Yang Yoga

Yin Yang Yoga is a fusion that encompasses the ancient Daoist qualities of yin and yang: Whilst Yin Yoga is traditionally a passive, still and quiet form of yoga, its yang equivalent is more active and moving.

The idea behind this holistic practice is to bring balance and stimulate the movement of qi (or energy) throughout the whole body, as well as exercise it physically. The intention is to stress the body in a variety of ways, release tension and calm the mind as a complement to our meditation practice.

In these sessions, expect a style of yoga - augmented by different forms of breathwork - that will flow like water between these two approaches. In order to aid this flow, the yang element of the practice will still be relatively gentle, allowing it to be accessible to all levels including beginners.

Victoria (Vicky) is a Yin Yoga teacher from Swansea in Wales, and has been teaching online and in-person classes since 2018. She offers live (free!) Yin Yoga + Meditation sessions every month, along with a wide range of audio classes on the Insight Timer app.

Expect Vicky’s sessions to not only be physical, but also encompass the energetic, emotional and mental elements of yoga. As well as the poses themselves, you will find mindfulness and breathwork - key elements to a balanced practice. In her classes, you will learn more about the crossroads between yoga and energetic flow from a Chinese perspective, and how you can bring this into both your practice and everyday life.

Vicky’s classes are 'functional' rather than 'aesthetic', meaning she will be encouraging you to focus on what you are feeling in your body rather than the shapes you are making. She stresses the importance of how everyone is an individual with distinct bodies and minds, and will help you adapt your practice so it is uniquely yours.

Your body, your yoga.
